The Mamquam River Access Society (MRAS), a group that supports the preservation, enhancement, and facilitation of whitewater access and recreation relating to the Mamquam River, would like to develop a Not-for-Profit campground located in Squamish. The proposed campsite is located adjacent to the Mamquam River. There is an existing trail/dike road located between the application area and foreshore. The proposed campground would be rustic in nature and principled on ?low impacts? to the land. Fifty tenting sites are being proposed for the campground; each site would be separated in nature. In addition, the campground would provide potable well-water, fully serviceable outhouses, recycling facilities and bear-proof food storage lockers. Firewood would be made available for purchase. Education and signage will address bear awareness, spawning habitat sensitivity and cold water dangers. |
