Applications and Reasons for Decisions (ARFD)

[PENDING : APPLICATION UNDER REVIEW]

Client: SIROUNIS, Demetrios
Purpose: RESIDENTIAL/PRIVATE MOORAGE
Region: Lower Mainland, Surrey
Agency: Crown Land Allocation
File: #2411748

May 10, 2016

Location: Ole's Cove (West of Secret Cove)
Area (Hectares): 0.05 ha +/-
BCGS Mapsheet: 92G051.3
Legal Description: UNSURVEYED FORESHORE OR LAND COVERED BY WATER BEING PART OF THE BED OF MALASPINA STRAIT, GROUP 1, NEW WESTMINSTER DISTRICT

Mr. Sirounis proposes to install a 15' x 4' aluminum approach, a 50' x 4' gangway/17' x 4' float for a boat loading and unloading system usable at high tide. The loading ramp system will front Lot B, DL 4538, NWD, Plan EPP39595 on the foreshore of Secret Cove, B.C. The approach will bear on a 5' x 4' x 2' (approx.) concrete abutment and stretch out offshore to two 12" bearing piles on a concrete footing (bent 1). Light penetrating aluminum grate decking will be installed on the approach, gangway, and the attached float.

This proposed moorage system will be used exclusively by the owners of the upland property and their guests. There will be no services to the float. The float will not be used for commercial purposes and no income will be generated by the facility. The gangway/float system will provide a safe location for the Sirounis's to load and unload supplies and passengers from his boat. The boat will be moored on a mooring buoy further out from shore. The gangway/float system is seasonal and will be stored out of the water during the winter months. The gangway/ float system will only be lowered into the water and be used for loading and unloading at high tide.

The tenure area will see very little vessel traffic. The loading float will only be used by the proponent' s private boat and occasional guests. The tenure area will see a slightly larger volume of traffic in the mid-summer season.
