[PENDING : APPLICATION UNDER REVIEW]

Client: Sea to Sky Adventure Company Incorporated
Purpose: COMMERCIAL RECREATION/GUIDED SALTWATER RECREATION
Region: Lower Mainland, Surrey
Agency: Crown Land Allocation
File: #2411728

Jul 12, 2016

Location: Squamish Harbour, Britannia Beach
Area (Hectares): 0.007 ha +/-

Legal Description: That part of District Lot 5208, Group 1, New Westminster District

The application is for an extensive use licence over part of Howe Sound to allow paddling related commercial tourism activities (specifically sea kayaking and standup paddle boarding). The application proposes use of three types of areas:
-The paddling areas within Howe Sound and the Squamish River,
-Six campsites within established Marine Recreation Sites around Howe Sound,
-A storage container near the water located in Britannia Beach.

Sea to Sky Adventure Company is working with McDonald Development Corporation, the owners of the Britannia Beach Town Site, to develop a paddling centre in Britannia Beach on private land. However, the actual kayak and paddleboard launch site is planned to be on Crown Land that has excellent access to the waters of Howe Sound. This application requests a ¿License of Occupation¿ over a parcel of Crown Land in Britannia Beach, BC, and for areas within six of the recently created Marine Recreation Sites as part of the Sea to Sky Marine Trail in Howe Sound. In addition, Sea to Sky Adventure Company has identified six areas within the District of Squamish for use as kayak and paddleboard ¿put-in¿ and ¿take-outs.¿ Sea to Sky Adventure Company is looking to expand its current services to include overnight kayak and paddleboard tours, and rentals of kayaks and paddleboards with an easy access directly onto Howe Sound.
