Applications and Reasons for Decisions (ARFD)

[PENDING : APPLICATION UNDER REVIEW]

Client: CURBY, David
Purpose: RESIDENTIAL/PRIVATE MOORAGE
Region: Lower Mainland, Surrey
Agency: Crown Land Allocation
File: #2411759

Jul 13, 2016

Location: Strachan Creek
Area (Hectares): 0.05 ha +/-
BCGS Mapsheet: 92G044
Legal Description: Unsurveyed foreshore or land covered by water being part of the bed of Howe Sound, Group 1, New Westminster District

The applicant is proposing to install a private moorage fronting their upland residence between Lions Bay and Horseshoe Bay and approximately 110m south of Charles Creek. The tenure would allow for the installation of a fixed aluminium approach, an access ramp (gangway) and a float. An existing set of concrete stairs and concrete patio will be used to access the waterfront.

The proposed improvements are as follows:
? 2.4m x 9.1 m fixed aluminum approach;
? 1.5m x 15.2m cantilevered aluminum gangway ramp; and
? 3.7m x 18.3 m wooden float (secured by concrete anchors and anchor lines)

The site is not located adjacent to any dedicated public beach access or park. The approach will be constructed approximately1.5m above the high water line, allowing free access along the foreshore beneath the structure at all tides and will not negatively restrict public access along the foreshore.

The proposed moorage facility is for the private use of the upland resident. The number of boats expected to utilize the facility will vary between one and two and may be up to 14.8m in length. The peak activity window will be during the summer months, but moorage may be required throughout the entire year.
