Applications and Reasons for Decisions (ARFD)

[PENDING : APPLICATION UNDER REVIEW]

Client: Hunter Creek Hydro Limited Partnership
Purpose: WATERPOWER/GENERAL AREA
Region: Lower Mainland, Surrey
Agency: Crown Land Allocation
File: #2411801

Mar 1, 2017

Location: Hunter Creek
Area (Hectares): .956 ha +-
BCGS Mapsheet: 92H033
Legal Description: THAT PARCEL OR TRACT OF LAND IN THE VICINITY OF LEGAL SUBDIVISION 9, SECTION 33, TOWNSHIP 4, RANGE 27, WEST OF THE 6TH MERIDIAN, YDYD

Hunter Creek Hydro Limited Partnership (HCHLP) is currently constructing a Run-of-River Hydroelectric Project (the Project) which is an approximately 10 MW hyower facility located about 10 km southwest of Hope, BC (Crown Lands file # 2408242).
Since construction works, which commenced in the spring of 2016, an area was identified as a potential land tenure amendment required to facilitate construction. This amendment area is labelled on the submitted maps as Polygon E and is 0.956 ha in size. The area is required in order to properly stabilize the soil materials encountered upslope of a small section of the main penstock installation through naturally over-steepened terrain. This long term stabilization effort (cutting back of the existing side slope) extends slightly beyond the current land tenure boundary resulting in the requirement for an amendment. No infrastructure or improvements are planned to be installed within the amendment area.
The Projects Development Plan includes an assessment of the terrestrial ecosystems associated with this general area. Further to this, a specific geotechnical assessment has been completed for Polygon E and no appreciable geotechnical risks were identified.
