The Columbia Shuswap Regional District is seeking crown tenure for the 8.3 Hectares of foreshore off of Sunnybrae Community Park in Tappen, BC. The park land above the present natural boundary is owned by the CSRD and was previously a Provincial Park. The foreshore was a designated UREP map reserve, of which BC Parks recently released from that designation. The tenure area is zoned in the Columbia Shuswap Regional District as Foreshore Parks and the tenure area is being used in accordance with that zoning. Nothing has changed with respect to the foreshore use ? currently a designated swim area for the park users. The local government has unanimously supported this tenure application, as seen in the council endorsement. The CSRD is interested in adding a 24.3 square meter swim raft, which is the reason for this Crown Tenure Application. There are currently zero public swim platforms in the entire Salmon Arm of the Shuswap Lake, and only two public designated swim areas on the entire Sunnybrae-Canoe Pt. Road. The installation of a swim platform will draw local visitors and tourists as well as provide an excellent place for the annual swim lessons at the park. |
