Blue Water Systems Ltd. application is for investigating wave energy potential in the Georgia Strait off the coast of Point Grey. They plan on setting four anchors to hold a wave energy converter (WEC 100mx100m platform) in place. After a few months of the installation they will be removing the WEC for a few weeks so that it can be refitted with a power take off systems (in the form of a hydraulic cylinder). Then the WEC will be brought back to the location and reinstalled for the remainder of the one year investigative phase. If during testing, the device shows is capable of withstanding larger West Coast waves, they may consider moving the device to the west coast before the one year test period has finished. |
