Applications and Reasons for Decisions (ARFD)

[PENDING : APPLICATION UNDER REVIEW]

Client: Telus Communications Inc.
Purpose: COMMUNICATION/COMMUNICATION SITES
Region: Lower Mainland, Surrey
Agency: Crown Land Allocation
File: #2412079

Aug 16, 2018

Location: Zenith Creek
Area (Hectares): 0.641 +-
BCGS Mapsheet: 92G084
Legal Description: THAT PARCEL OR TRACT OF LAND IN THE VICINITY OF ZENITH CREEK, NEW WESTMINSTER DISTRICT, CONTAINING .64 HECTARES MORE OR LESS.

TELUS is planning to place a 10m self-support tower with passive reflector on Crown land in the Upper Squamish River Valley to improve the telecom services to local residents.

The construction of this new tower is required as the current system is experiencing regular service interruptions due to path issues (e.g. tree growth) related to the way it is currently served.

TELUS plans on accessing the site by helicopter and will require a designated landing pad within the proposed application area.

The environmental impacts will be minimal as this site will not require any power sources, buildings or any additional support structures other than the concrete footings required for the tower itself and a helipad for the helicopter.

The site is mostly bare rock already but there may be some minor tree removal required for safe access of the helicopter and to ensure unobstructed line of sight to the tower. There will be no noise impact and no odor d from the operation of this site and it is not near any waterways.
